A Healing Movement
You are not a disease that requires treatment. And so we are not mere diagnosticians that pigeon-hole you.
You are not a mere accumulation of dopamine and serotonin levels that need optimizing. And so we are not your run-of-the-mill pill-pushers.
You are not a computer with abnormal algorithms. And so we are not technicians.
You are a person with life challenges. As are we.
While it is necessary to diagnose at times, prescribe on occasion, and use techniques wherever warranted (and we are qualified and licensed to provide all of those services if need be) these are small, dispensable steps in a much larger healing journey.
That is who we really aspire to be: facilitators of your healing journey.
Oh and you are most probably not white. Which is why we move beyond a psychology that is Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich, and Democratic (WEIRD) to one that is culturally grounded and for that reason capable of drawing from whatever is the best of western psychology.
Also, you're not a troubled person in an otherwise perfect world. It is more than broken. In many ways it is disgustingly evil. Any effort to heal individuals ignoring diseased societies is not only ludicrous it is complicit in the systemic oppression. And so we are not stuck in our ivory towers, be they hospitals or clinics.
We understand that distress or confusion is a sign of taking the healing journey seriously.
TelePsych Pakistan brings healing to your computer screens and phones. Founded in 2020 and home to over a dozen psychiatrists and psychologists, and a waystation for hundreds of patients/clients/collaborators and students.
We are essentially relational: turning contemporary divides between Theory-Practice, East-West, Religion-Science, Person-Community, etc. into fruitful relationships.
At this pivotal moment in history, as mental health consciousness undergoes fundamental transformation globally, we are committed to actively shape this evolution toward healing rather than allowing it to drift toward further pathologization. We refuse to remain passive recipients as colonization had us believe.
